Affordable housing waitlists explained
The difference between a waitlist opening, a future vacancy list and a currently available apartment.
A waitlist is not a vacancy
Joining a waitlist usually means asking a housing provider to consider you for a current or future opening. It should not be confused with an apartment that is ready to lease today. SANEL labels waitlists separately for exactly this reason.
Read the registration rules
- Check whether the list is open now.
- Confirm which AMI tiers, bedroom sizes or household sizes it covers.
- Look for a registration deadline or capacity limit.
- Save confirmation details after you register.
SANEL provides housing information and eligibility estimates for convenience. Housing providers and government agencies make final eligibility and application decisions.
